Time for a cup of tea! This morning I was craving a healthy cup of tea. Low and behold...I was out of my favorite lemon ginger tea. So, I made my own healthy tea from scratch. It was so easy and has so many healthy benefits. I made a lemon ginger and turmeric tea. See below for health benefits and the recipe!
Ginger: Anti inflammatory, helps with nausea and initiates weight loss. Many studies have suggested that increasing consumption of plant foods like ginger decreases the risk of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and overall mortality while promoting a healthy complexion and hair, increased energy and overall lower weight.
Tumeric: It is used in traditional Indian and Asian dishes and has a few powerful health benefits that you don’t want to miss out on. Besides the healing properties, it actually tastes really good, too, and people use it for cooking to entice the senses and make food more palatable. It's known for being a natural pain reliever, helps lower the risk of cancer and like ginger is an anti-inflammatory agent.
Lemon: The natural concoction of lemon is touted for it’s beneficial effects on your overall health—from boosting the digestive system and immunity to encouraging natural cleansing. Not only that, but a simple squeeze of fresh lemon is jam-packed with potassium, vitamin B and C, calcium, magnesium, antioxidants, and iron. Lemon promotes healthy hydration, glowing skin, enhances immunity, anti inflammation, antibacterial and antiviral benefits, enhances digestion, it's a cancer fighter and freshens breath!
Now...the recipe! (It's so easy!!!!!)
1-boil 1 1/2 cups water 2-zest 2 tablespoons of ginger into the water. 3-zest 1/4 teaspoon of tumeric into the water (it also cuts the tart ginger and lemon) 4-squeeze half of lemon juice into the pot as well and adding zest of the lemon skin. 5-strain and enjoy!
